Brief
A corridor that needed to be a destination in itself.
Cultural / personal source
The Yangtze; China's intangible cultural heritage register.
Creative direction
A single body — the river as dragon — over a ground of 1,800 heritage cells, read while walking.
Works & objects
China Dragon, oil on canvas, 12.8 × 2.6 m.
Material & making
Stitched canvas panels; stone corridor with concealed linear lighting.
Technical challenge
Reading distance: the work is seen at 1.5 m in a corridor, so the cells were painted to be legible at that range while the dragon reads from either end.
Delivery / installation
Installed on site by the atelier.
Result
The atelier's reference for corridor and lobby-scale painting.
